2018 LCFA Sporting Clays Benefit For Betty M Lacy Scholarship Fund

On May 18, LCFA sponsored a skeet shoot at Camp Binachi Shooting Sports benefiting the Betty M Lacy scholarship fund. We had 77 shooters and multiple station sponsors! Thanks to Circle S Ranch Fish House for providing the delicious lunch.

We raised enough money to award two scholarships! Congratulations to Grant Hartman and Garrett Gibson.

Biewer Sawmill Tour Event – July 25th, 2018

The LCFA is planning a tour of Biewer Lumber in Newton, MS.  The tour will be July 25, 2018.  We will meet at the Newton Junction, just north of the interstate on Highway 15, at 8:30 a.m. to travel to the mill. 

NOTE: This tour will require a lot of walking and climbing stairs.

Forest Insect & Disease Update Workshop – Held November 7th, 2017

These pictures are from our “Forest Insect & Disease Update” workshop which was held at the EMEPA auditorium Tuesday (7th) 5:30-8:30. It was sponsored by LCFA and MSU Extension. The class provided CFE credits for registered foresters and pertinent information for forest landowners. 

The fee for the class was waived for all LCFA members.  We had 4 speakers: Glenn Hughes, Extension Forester, MSU Extension; Clarissa Balbalian, Plant Pathologist, MSU Extension; Butch Bailey, Extension Forester, MSU Extension; and Christian Stephenson, Hancock County Extension Agent.  We had approximately 80 people present.

Insect and Disease Control Workshop – MSU Extension Service

The LCFA would like to invite you to a workshop on Forest Insect and Diseases. The program will be held on Tuesday, November 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the EMEPA auditorium. Dinner will be served. There will be no charge to LCFA members and only $10.00 for nonmembers. The workshop will give 2 hours of CFE credit. There will be a 1 hour ethics for Registered Foresters from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Continuing Education: Logsite Emergency Management — March 29, 2014

PLM-MSU-ExtSrvIn an emergency, knowing what to do can save the life of a friend and co-worker. Logging is still one of the most dangerous jobs in the country and how you handle emergencies will make all the difference. Come join the class and learn how to deal with accidents and help save a life.

The class will be presented by Southern Safety Solutions on Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at the John W. Starr Memorial Forest, Mississippi State University. Registration begins at 8:00am at the Dorman Lake Cabin and class begins 8:30am.

Cost will be $125 per person.

Available Credit: 8 Hours CLE Category I; 4.5 Hours CFE Category II
